The number one key to build community

What do you need to build community? Why do you need to build community at all?

Nowadays markets are overloaded. What makes you different from the guy next door is that some people know and trust you. Others trust him. What will make people trust that you will deliver quality to them? YOU. Your personality, your brand. Your communication.

For example, if I know someone selling knitted saucepans and I start to follow him, I will see his notes, comments, we even make friends on social media, so I see his posts. I love his work, I am thinking of ordering a whole big set of his knitted kitchenware. And then, I see him posting about other clients.. making fun of them. Ridiculing his own followers, his own people. He starts posting about the “idiots” who believed that knitted saucers are great for cooking and makes jokes about what messages he gets.

I have seen this many times. And not only me, but everyone. Every single follower. Do you work hard to build a brand with one hand and then you ruin everything with the other one?

Or are you smart and you build your brand with one hand and you support it with the other one?

What will your profile tell about you?

This is the number one step. That you understand the importance of your communication. How much, how, to whom and when and where… this is essential.

I am writing a piece about channels, too! Next blog post is coming up soon!

My vision board

… or dream board…

I share a secret with you now. This is so personal. I have dreams that I have not yet shared with anyone here.

This is how it started: I was dreaming about the sea and a life that allows me to spend ALL my time with the ones I love. I was dreaming about feeling healthy and pretty and actually look good in that damn sexy bikini. For too long it was just a dream.

One day I felt it is time and started to think about the “how to” part, so the planning began.

I discovered how to cheat my brain and how visualizing my success would lead me to actual success. I created a vision board, or dream board. I collected pictures, I find the best words that expressed what I wanted to achieve. I did a plan to calculate how much money I need, what I must do, what the steps are and I put these on the board. I have a plan to follow to make my dream happen and become true.

I love my vision board. So easy to create one, if you understand the logic behind it.

I recommend this book, it is brilliant.

What I did was easy. I printed pictures about the beach where I wanted to live, I printed a picture of myself (I was not brave enough to do it in a bikini), I picked a photo of my extremely handsome husband and put the numbers and words on a board along with the photos.
So, what do you want to achieve in your business or in your life?

2 ways how to lose your potential customer

Your products are beautiful! Everybody admires how talented you are. You have thousands of likes on your Facebook page – yet nobody really wants to buy from you.

You are maybe offering a service and everyone says you are really knowledgeable, you know your stuff, then you just sit and wait but nobody really calls you to book an appointment.

hol vagyokWhat could have gone wrong? It is clear that those people do not know that your product or service is clearly what they need! They do not understand the value it can bring to their life – YET!

There is a chance that those people who look at your page do not understand what you are selling! It can happen if you are a service provider. The other day, I got an e-mail about something that I did not understand clearly along with an offer that it might be useful for my business. No website or company name, only “marketing advisor” or similar title in the signature. I could have ignored but I could not resist to hit reply and say: I do not actually understand if that thing you are offering could bring any value to me, but if you really want me to look into it, please send a link to your website or any information how I could benefit from it. stress at workplaceAnd then I got the website and no news since then. Why? They sent me a useless proposal and I even replied! and nothing! They are not getting back to me and I will not write them again to ask them to sell something to me. I will not go and tell them how to sell something to me even if I could be interested in their products. I could but would not worth the time and effort. They lost it. It is that simple.

Lesson learned: Make it clear what you want to sell. Make clear packages if you are a service provider! Do not expect people to spend time to figure out what you do and if they need you or not… Tell them!

I have an other story about a lady who tagged me in a comment of a post in a groupszámonkérő arcok on Facebook (so quite publicly), saying that she added me as a friend (means my private profile) and if I confirm the request, she will show me how to make my Twitter profile more visible, active and so it will be working better. Excuse me? Are you telling me that I am doing it wrong? Who are you to stop me and tell me publicly that I need help because I am not good enough according to you? So who are you again?

Lesson learned: Never try to sell before engagement. You do not know who you talk to! You have no idea what the other person wants! Not everybody wants to be visible on social media. Be a little bit more open minded and imagine that there is a world outside of Facebook and Twitter. While I know that the digital economy is growing fast,

Be Polite

Be Polite

I also know that NOBODY will convert if you approach them randomly with a sale offer, specially if phrased in an insulting style. Talk to people as if you met on the street – you are a random stranger. Smile first, say hi, introduce yourself, tell something about yourself, engage the other person. Be polite!

Talk to people in a way you want to be treated, you want to be talked to. Love your potential clients, respect them, provide value, otherwise they go away before you know it!

Here is a book that I recommend from Khalid Saleh. This is an affiliate link to the book on Amazon if you want to see the details: Conversion Optimization: The Art and Science of Converting Prospects to Customers

Enjoy reading it! Now I am going to write more about this conversion topic as it proves to be very exciting!

Engage your followers! – just a few tips

Good morning!

Today, I decided to share my thoughts with you randomly because I had a conversation yesterday that did not leave me. The thoughts in my head are so loud and flashing that I really must share them right now! (ok, I am still normal, I think)

So, what do you expect from your social media platform? From your presence on Facebook, Pinterest or Twitter, etc? What do you expect from your advertisements?

What is your goal with these? Do you realise that these are only TOOLS? So the goal is not that you go and share 5 times a day on Facebook! The goal is that you sell your product and you use social media to communicate with your clients.

Imagine that Facebook or Twitter is just the clear air in between you and your customer and you have a conversation in a lovely café. How would you sell to that person then?

Would you engage that person’s attention by:

 – asking questions about THEM?

– investigating a bit more about THEIR likes and dislikes?

– introducing yourself (and not your product) a little bit more?

– helping that person identify the gap that your product could fill in their life?

So, go ahead and do this!

  • talk about your customers,
  • ask them
  • involve them
  • ask them again when they comment – keep up a conversation
  • tell more about your thoughts, what makes YOU unique?
  • tell your customers why your product is a great value FOR THEM personally!

huhh… I already feel better that I could write this down.

Thank you for reading.

Ask me if you need any help to phrase those questions, to find why you are unique. We can brainstorm together, it is so inspiring!

Time management tips during a Business Consulting session (Case Study – The Pantry)

consulting in thePantrycropped1I handle all my clients’ files as confidential.

I find it essential to analyse the cases I work on and it does not matter that we have  a coaching session or a business consultancy. I always find tailored solutions. I cannot give the same advice to everyone. Even if two of my clients run similar businesses they are different. Their attitude towards the business, their standards, values and performance are all different, and so are their personalities.

I also commit myself to listen. Listen very carefully and actively so I really can hear what they have to tell. What their businesses tell me about them. What their website is about. How their Facebook profile picture talks to me. And these all help me. These all support my work plan, the flow of our sessions.

veggies and fruits in the PantryWhereas, we are all unique, there are always similar challenges that we can approach in similar ways. While I had a discussion with Clair, the owner of the Pantry, about targeting and where/how to find new clients, we talked about time management.

How would you be able to make more time to do all the tasks you put on your list?

First you want to do everything, soon you realize that you do not have the time! Before you could start with any marketing magic technique, you must find or make time to do it!

If you want to address your customers yourself, you must be available to meet them.

Hence, I am sure that making more time in your life will help you a lot to be available to make more money, to meet more people, to send out more leaflet.

Save time by prioritizing

Save time by prioritizing

I draw this simple picture to Clair and she thought this was really helpful. This is my to-do-list. Do you simply write a list? Or clouds of words? Or several lists on post-its? You might have a mental list or one on your calendar that is off as soon as you swipe the red cross over your screen. Are they helpful? Do they work well for you?

Let’s see if we can do a little improvement on your to-do-list.

First you need to determine what is important, what is urgent or the combinations. Write the task into the right place and there you go!

I gave the advice to Delegate what is not important but should be done by yesterday and you have no time to do it yourself. But you might decide to delegate other things, like cleaning that could easily end up in the ‘dump-it’ section, so you actually make time. thePantry consulting

What is not urgent today, might become urgent tomorrow. Try out how you can work with this smart tool and just move your undone tasks to the next day. You will feel less guilty knowing that they are not the urgent, nor the important ones!

Save time on Social Media – NOW

social mediaI was reading about time management a lot recently because I am planning materials for a group coaching session. I had to realize that almost everyone recommends that we should avoid social media. It can be distracting, time sucker and you easily spend your day checking profiles and reading articles. At the end of the day you feel so busy but in fact you did not do anything efficient.

But what if you actually work on Facebook for instance? You plan your marketing there, your target audience is on Facebook and you cannot really avoid it?

It can be a good idea that you do not log into Facebook at all. And even if you do, you keep your time tracked. You can use a count-down so you are more conscious. This is an example for an online stop watch/count down but you can use an offline version, too.

How to connect with your audience then? Try some apps like Pages or Groups, so you can even uninstall Facebook app from your phone or tablet.

How to manage your posts on more platform?

social media apps

social media apps

You can use PostPlanner or other “social media tools like TweetDeck, Co Tweet, Sprout Social, HootSuite and others have become widely adopted. They are a great asset for managing your social media presence across multiple platforms and accounts. The main benefit of using these tools is they make managing social media much more convenient.” (Read here more about why they might not work well on Facebook)

A little more insight what these applications are can be read over here on the Shonali Burke Consulting Inc website: Why Buffer, HootSuite and Post Planner are the Holy Trinity of Managing Social Media

And how much is too much? Have a look at this info-graphic to see how many posts/day are effective. http://www.adweek.com/socialtimes/social-media-post-frequency/615992

For your personal page you can categorize your connections. Facebook gives you the opportunity to follow or unfollow people. To set if you want to be notified about their activities or if they are your close friends, friends or acquaintances. When ever you post something, you can decide who will see it. This way you are in control of what people can see and what comes up in your news feed.

So now you have more free time to do more. What are you going to use it for?
